University College Graduate StudentsGraduate students (not including teaching credential only students, who for federal aid purposes are considered 5th-year undergraduates) are eligible for loans. The maximum Stafford loans a graduate student may borrow is $20,500 per year under the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). Some students, however, will not be eligible for the full $20,500 depending on their enrollment status -- whether or not they are full time, three-quarter time, half time, or less-than-half time, and how many terms they plan on attending in the academic year. Graduate students with good credit ratings may be eligible to borrow from the Grad PLUS Loan program to meet their educational costs. The amount typically offered is the same as for the non-federal alternative loan program. Alternative loans, which are not part of the Federal loan program, are sometimes an option for graduate students. To see how much of an alternative loan you would be eligible for, contact us. |
