The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers awards to a select group of individuals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution. Recipients, therefore, use the funding to pursue a master's degree in American history or political science, an MAT concentrating on American history or government, or an M.Ed. or M.A. in Education with a concentration in American history or American government. The purpose of this program is to improve teaching of the U.S. Constitution in secondary schools.
Service Requirement: After earning this degree, recipients must teach American history, American government, or social studies to students in grades 7-12 for a minimum of one year for each full year of study under the fellowship. |

Eligibility: |
|
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have a bachelor's degree or the intent to obtain a bachelor's degree by August 31 of the year in which they apply. This award is available only to students who wish to pursue master's degrees in the specific areas listed above. |

Award: |
|
The award has a $24,000 maximum for tuition, fees, books, and room and board, pro-rated over the individual period of study. (Awards cannot exceed $12,000 per academic year and are generally less.) |
