Anti-Phishing Reminder

Universities nationwide have noticed an increase in successful e-mail-based phishing attacks which are designed to solicit your login and password information.

Phishing (pronounced "fishing") is a form of identity theft which deceitfully attempts to trick the e-mail recipient into revealing personal or financial information. In order to steal your personal information or account credentials, phishing uses cleverly crafted e-mail messages which appear to be from trusted sources such as banks, the government, and even Chapman University.  Messages may request you to "Validate your account" or "Confirm Your Account" and usually will include a web link or URL to respond with your secret information such as username, password and date of birth.  They may even say they're from Chapman University or another academic institution using a faked .edu reply-to email address or web link.

Do NOT respond to e-mail messages which ask you to provide or verify your personal information.

Do NOT follow any directions contained in such messages.

REMEMBER: CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY  WILL NEVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD - DO NOT SHARE YOUR PASSWORD WITH OTHERS!

Forward any such questionable emails to abuse@chapman.edu for our review. Note: We review all abuse e-mail, but may not respond unless further information is required
