Troubleshooting PC Problems

Listed to the left are solutions to some of the more common PC problems that are regularly dealt with at the Help Desk. For the best computing experience at Chapman University we use the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. We highly recommend that you use or upgrade your operating system to Windows XP to avoid unnecessary problems and performance issues.

Also, for your convenience you may view, save or print out the Computer Self-Help Guide (PDF file).  This packet contains instructions regarding many of the common issues such as running Windows Update, updating and running McAfee VirusScan, updating and running Ad-Aware, configuring proxy settings for Internet Explorer and backing up data to a CD.  You may also obtain a copy from the Help Desk located in the basement of the Leatherby Library.

Adobe Reader is needed to view the document properly.  You may download the program for free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
