DISCIPLES ON CAMPUS
SCHOLARSHIP COVENANT
2008-2009

This covenant is about relationship and community, and is for all Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ students who receive any form of Church Relation's scholarship assistance.

             These scholarships include Disciples Fellowship Award; Disciples Youth Leadership Award; Disciples Ministerial Dependent Award; Disciples Day & Disciple Match Scholarships; and all Disciples endowment scholarships. 

In joining Disciples on Campus (DOC), you are entering into a yearlong invitation to be in a covenant community with the Church Realtions office and DOC.  The Church Relations staff joins in covenant with you to provide scholarships, opportunities for community, spiritual growth, and individual support.  As a member of DOC, you are invited and strongly encouraged to join in the following activities for the 2008-2009 school year.

  • New student Dinner (New DOC only) - August 21, 2008
  • DOC BBQ - August 24, 2008
  • DOC Christmas Party - December 5, 2008
  • Fall Retreat September 12-14, 2008
  • Service Projects
  • Fundraisers
  • Participate in the Partner Church Program by coming to "Partner Church Letter writing" parties on: September 19, 2008; November 2, 2008; February 27, 2009; April 24, 2009
  • Be willing to connect with a Partner Church if interest and time permit
  • Spring Retreat - February 20-21, 2009
  • Pre-Founders Day DOC Meeting for those participating in Founders Day, March 1, 2009.
  • Founders Day -  March 21, 2009
  • Senior Celebration - May 3, 2009 
  • Avoid use of drugs and alchol at all DOC events

Church Relations/DOC Scholarship Covenant

Characteristics of our Scholarship Covenant

  • Scholarship awards will never be reduced during the year.
  • Scholarship awards are based  totally on Covenant participation, availability of money and vary from year to year.
  • Mid and end-year Covenant updates will be sent out to all students and parents.

 
Helpful hints for being in Covenant
Make sure you stay in communication with the Church Relations staff. There are many ways we suggest you keep informed of DOC activities. The easiest ways are to:
  • Talk with students
  • Stop by Church Relations Office
  • Read DOC Talk 
  • Read Flyers
  • Check E-mail and voicemail messages
  • Check the Covenant Opportunities page

The best advice we can offer is to make sure that you keep a balance in your life that will give you enough time to fully complete your DOC covenant.
