The Chancellor is the Chief Academic Officer of the university and is responsible for the core operations of the university, including all academic matters. Deans of all colleges and schools, as well as other academic officers of the university, report to the Chancellor.

The Chancellor is responsible for coordination of the curriculum and faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, as well as academic assessment and institutional research. The Chancellor also has oversight of major university events, including Commencement and Convocation.
