A native of Cumberland, Maine, Charlie Fox spent his youth on Casco Bay racing on the very competitive Portland Yacht Club Junior Racing Team. Charlie started racing in Optimists then moved on to 420s placing in the top of fleets in several local and regional events. He also raced in the Laser Radial, qualifying for and competing in U.S. Youth Champs and several other regional and national events. In 2001 he was named to the 29er National team that represented the U.S. at the 29er Worlds. He was a varsity skipper for his college sailing teams at Mitchell College and the University of Southern Maine. Charlie has coached several high level race teams over the last few years including the Portland Yacht Club, Newport Harbor Yacht Club and Balboa Yacht Club. Fox is currently campaigning for the 2012 Olympics in the 470 Class. |
