ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s water polo team was defeated by visiting U.C. Santa Cruz 11-6 on Thursday night at Orange High School. The loss dropped the Panthers’ season record to 4-3 and was their second straight home defeat. Chapman, ranked No. 7 in the latest Division III poll, put up a good defensive fight against No. 3-ranked Santa Cruz, totaling thirteen steals against the Banana Slugs, including three from senior Katie MacLean. Freshman goalie Celia Huling also made 10 saves in goal. Offensively, the Panthers were led by junior Jennifer Manship and sophomore Brittney Koski, both scored two goals each. The Panthers will travel to Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Loyola Marymount Tournament.
