CHAPMAN OPENS SEASON RANKED NO. 9 IN DIVISION III

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s water polo team will open its 2008 campaign by hosting the five-team Chapman Tournament at Orange High School this weekend. The Panthers will begin the season ranked No. 9 in Division III.

Chapman returns leading scorer Jennifer Manship this season after she set a school record with 103 goals as a sophomore in 2007. The All-America selection ranked fourth in all divisions in scoring last season and enters this year just 57 goals shy of the school record for goals. Senior Haley Slusser and sophomore Brittney Koski also return after combining for 47 goals and 72 assists in 2007.

The Panthers will play the first of four games in the tournament against Fresno Pacific on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Chapman’s first big test of the season will come against No. 8-ranked Occidental in the tournament finale on Sunday at 3:45 p.m.
