PANTHERS WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYOFF BOUND

ORANGE, Calif. –  For the second time in school history the Chapman University women’s tennis team has earned a berth in the NCAA Division III West Region playoffs. The Panthers will travel to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Claremont on Friday and take on U.C. Santa Cruz in the first round of the tournament. The winner will face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday, May 5.

Chapman (4-8) was awarded a Pool ‘B’ at-large berth for the first time since 2001. The Panthers lost 9-0 to U.C. Santa Cruz (3-9) in March, but finished the regular season on a two-match winning streak. The Banana Slugs are currently ranked No. 5 in the West Region.

The Panthers are led by sophomore Roxanne Kaiden and junior Sabrina Ezekiel. The 1-2 punch for Chapman combined for five singles wins this season, while Ezekiel led the team with four doubles victories.
