PANTHERS SHUTOUT HOPE INTERNATIONAL; IMPROVE TO 2-1

ORANGE, Calif. – Out to a 2-1 start for the first time since 2004, the Chapman University women’s tennis team has already half of the team’s total number of wins last season (4-9 overall). The Panthers’ most recent victory was a 9-0 shutout over NAIA-opponent Hope International at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman No. 1 seed Liz Lewis improved to 2-1 in singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Minetto Steyn. Meanwhile, fellow freshman Kelley Fox also earned her second singles win as No. 2 seed, going three sets to beat Alexandra Weiss 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 for Chapman. Prior to that Lewis and Fox teamed up to earn a double victory 8-4 to lead off the Chapman sweep.

Chapman travels to Riverside on Friday to face La Sierra University.
