ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's soccer team lost its season finale 1-0 to visiting La Sierra University on Thursday evening at Wilson Field. The only goal of the game came on an unassisted breakaway goal by La Sierra F Starlena Murray. Murray scored the game-winner in the 36th minute as she broke behind the defense leaving only the goalie between her and the net. She lifted the ball over junior GK Brittni Marciano for the decisive goal. Chapman (8-8-2) was shutout despite a second half surge that included out-shooting the Golden Eagles 12-2. La Sierra (8-4-2) GK Desiree Wood came up with four saves in the second half to hold the Panthers scoreless. A big surprise for the Panthers was the play of two-time All-Region selection Lindsey Lewis, who withstood a season-long knee injury to log 67 minutes in her only game of the season. The senior, who missed the the first 17 games with a knee injury was honored before the game on 'Senior Night' along with senior MF Lindsey Crancer who logged 74 minutes and one shot.
