PENALTY KICK PUTS AWAY PANTHERS

ORANGE, Calif. – With less than 10 minutes remaining in the game, La Sierra University sophomore D Georgia Anagnos scored on a penalty kick giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 win over the Chapman University women’s soccer team Monday night at Wilson Field.

Both teams played a near-even first half with the Chapman (5-6) out-shooting La Sierra 9-7. The second half was much of the same with each team having numerous opportunities to score, but solid goalkeeper play from both sides kept the game scoreless until Anagnos netted the eventual game-winning goal in the 82nd minute on a penalty kick.

Senior GK Madison Coffin had eight saves for the Panthers while La Sierra (3-5) sophomore GK Desiree Wood had six saves in the game, four of which game in the first half.

La Sierra has now won two games in a row against the Panthers winning last season 1-0 as well.
