ORANGE, Calif. – An early Panther goal provided the game’s only scoring as the Chapman University women’s soccer team won its third straight game, defeating visiting UW-Oshkosh (Wis.) 1-0 at Wilson Field on Sunday afternoon. The shutout was also the Panthers’ third straight and fourth of the season. Sophomore F Claire Callister scored a goal for the third consecutive game, including her second straight game-winner. And junior Madison Coffin became the first Chapman goalkeeper since 1994 to earn an assist. Coffin’s kick into Oshkosh territory was picked up by Callister, who punched it past the Titans keeper at the 9:05 mark. Coffin also made four saves in goal to contribute to Chapman’s fourth team shutout. The Panthers have allowed just two goals in the first five games for a goals-against average of 0.37. The Panthers posted a perfect 2-0 record in this weekend’s Bulldog/Athena Classic, hosted by Redlands and Claremont. Chapman will host Redlands on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in an important West Region showdown. Game stats available online: |
