ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s basketball team added two more victories to its school record 22-game home winning streak this holiday by posting a 2-0 mark in the Tiger/Panther Tournament co-hosted by Chapman and Occidental College. The Panthers defeated visiting Anderson University (Ind.) 49-38 in the tournament finale at Hutton Center on Monday afternoon. Chapman (12-2) is a perfect 7-0 at home this season and went 18-0 at Hutton Center in 2007, including an NCAA tournament first round playoff victory in March. The Panthers beat Anderson despite shooting a season-low 28.3 percent from the field. Their opponents could never recover from a first half in which the Ravens shot just 11.1 percent from the floor and scored 12 points. Junior C Andrijana Kerkez led all scorers with 11 points and earned her second double-double of the season with 12 rebounds. Sophomore G Linda Ly (nine points Monday, 15 points on Sunday) was named tournament MVP. Junior G Lauren Kamiyama, who scored 25 points in the Panthers’ 68-54 win over Monmouth College (Ill.) on Sunday, was also named to the All-Tournament team. Kayla Martin led Anderson (5-5) with 10 points and seven rebounds and was selected to the All-Tournament team. Chapman’s 12-2 record marks its best start since the 2004-05 season when the Panthers began 14-2.
