FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PANTHERS JUST KEEP ROLLING RIGHT INTO POSTSEASON ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s basketball team has strung together more wins consecutively than most teams earn in an entire season. On Sunday afternoon, the Panthers padded their playoff resume with their school record 14th straight win – and 20th this season – a 60-46 victory over visiting University of Dallas. The Panthers have now won 20 or more games in three of the past four years. After a slow start from both teams, the Panthers took the lead early in the first half and never succumbed. Chapman (20-5) ended the half with a 9-0 run and took a 13-point lead into the locker rooms. Meanwhile the Panthers’ stingy defense held Dallas to just three field goals and 17 first half points in the first half. Amelia Perez had a big day for Chapman both offensively and defensively. The junior guard earned her second double-double of the year with a 15-point, 11-rebound performance. Sophomore G Lauren Kamiyama led all scorers with 16 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Chapman improved to 12-1 at home this season and, including Sunday’s game, has held opponents under 50 points five times this year. For Dallas (11-14), Ana Castillo earned a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Panthers will host Nebraska Wesleyan, U.C. Santa Cruz and Colorado College in the Division III Independents West Region Postseason Tournament next weekend. Seedings and tournament schedule will be announced on Monday.
