ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s basketball team defeated Biola University Saturday night at Hutton Center in their last regular season home game. The 78-69 win was the Panthers’ 20th of the season as they honored three seniors on ‘Senior Night’. Leading Chapman (20-3) was junior G Lauren Kamiyama who finished the game with 21 points and three assists. Helping out offensively was junior G Nicole Hayman with 14 points. Both Kamiyama and Hayman drained three three-pointers in the game as the Panthers were 10-for-18 from beyond the arc. Chapman’s pesky defense allowed them to build a 15-point lead at halftime. The Panthers maintained a double-digit lead through most of the second half. Seniors Natasha Belou, Amelia Perez and Jessica Ciske were honored prior to the final home game of their careers. Belou scored 14 points with a game-high four three-pointers for Chapman. She is currently the school’s Division III career leader in three-point field goal percentage. Perez contributed with nine points, six rebounds and two steals. Jenna French scored 17 points and Megann Alberts pitched in 11 points and seven rebounds for Biola (6-17). The Panthers’ finished the home season 12-1 at Hutton Center. The win stretches Chapman’s win streak to eight games as they head to Texas for the Division III Independents Round Robin tournament on February 15-17.
