CHAPMAN JOINS “THINK PINK” CAMPAIGN FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

ORANGE, Calif. – The Panthers’ women’s basketball game against Biola University on Saturday will have fans seeing more than just Chapman cardinal and gray. Chapman University will join over 900 teams in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s “Think Pink” campaign for breast cancer awareness.

Chapman and Biola coaches and players will wear pink practice t-shirts and ribbons as part of the WBCA’s “Think Pink” Week from February 8-17. Chapman is also asking all fans to show their support by wearing pink to the game at the Hutton Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The NCAA has also joined the "Think Pink" initiative by implementing the "Calling for a Cure" campaign where all NCAA women's basketball officials will be blowing a pink whistle February 8-17.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for all women and the leading overall cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 20 and 59. And in the United States, breast cancer is expected to be newly diagnosed every three minutes, and a woman will die from breast cancer every 13 minutes.* Chapman University salutes all women in the fight against breast cancer.
