ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s basketball team went scoreless over the first five and a half minutes of the game and trailed for most of the first half, but rebounded in the second to beat visiting La Sierra University 66-49 at Hutton Center on Saturday night. Chapman (14-3) went on a 20-4 run early in the second half and led the rest of the way to improve to 8-1 at home this season. Helping to right the ship was junior G Nikki Hayman who scored a team-high 12 points, including six during the Panthers’ second half run. Sophomore G Linda Ly also reached double figures with 10 points. And junior F Blaire Camarda pitched in nine points and tied a season-high with six rebounds for Chapman. Chapman shot 51.9 percent from the field over the final 20 minutes. The Panthers also held their opponents under 50 points for the sixth time this season. Golden Eagles’ G Jodi Lyn led all scorers with 13 points, including four three-pointers in the second half. Forward Kathy Trujillo was a rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points and a game-high nine boards for La Sierra (7-9). The Golden Eagles were limited to just 26.3 percent shooting in the game.
