FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ORANGE, Calif. – Junior MB Jill Felger was named to the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association All-America team on Tuesday. It’s the highest honor a Chapman volleyball player has earned from the AVCA. Felger (2005) and Becky Mondon (1999) had previously earned honorable mention. Felger also becomes the first two-time All-American in Chapman volleyball history. Felger led the Panthers with a career-high 391 kills, averaging 4.39 per game. She currently ranks No. 18 in Division III and set a school-record with a .381 hitting percentage. She is sixth all-time at Chapman in kills with 870. Five times this season, the junior recorded 20 or more kills, including a school-record 29 against Claremont on Oct. 12. Prior to her All-America honor, Felger was named to the All-West Region first team last week by the AVCA. Sophomore libero Linda Ly earned All-West Region honorable mention, as well. Ly shattered her own single-season mark with 607 digs in 2007. Ly also set Panthers’ career digs record with 1,129 in just her second season at Chapman. The Panthers finished the season at 16-10 and ranked No. 8 in the West Region. |
