CHAPMAN REGAINS WINNING WAYS IN SWEEP OF OXY

ORANGE, Calif. –  The Chapman University women’s volleyball team snapped its four-match losing streak with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-22 sweep against visiting Occidental College at the Hutton Sports Center on Thursday night. For Panthers’ head coach Mary Cahill it was victory No. 299 in her 20-year coaching career at Chapman.

Chapman (7-5) trailed by as many as seven points midway through the final game, but out-scored the Tigers 16-6 down the stretch to complete the three-game sweep. The Panthers improved to 3-1 this season at home.

Senior MB Jill Felger led all players with 15 kills and added a block for Chapman. Junior OH Lindsey Cargile also had nine kills and sophomore S Kat Kowalski recorded 39 assists and four service aces for the Panthers.

For Occidental (1-1), OH Gywnne Davis tallied nine kills in defeat.

The Panthers will try to get Cahill her 300th career victory – the most in school history – on Saturday when they will face New York University and Whittier College in a double-header in Whittier.
