FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s volleyball team continued its housecleaning on Wednesday night, sweeping visiting Occidental College 30-16, 30-17, 30-15 at Hutton Center. It was the Panthers’ second three-game sweep in as many nights as they prepare for play at a difficult Cal Lutheran Tournament this weekend. After trailing 13-10 midway through the second game, the Panthers rallied to outscore Occidental 20-4 over the remainder of the game. At the heart of the rally was junior MB Jill Felger, who led all players with 19 kills in the match. Senior OH Nikkie Powers added 15 kills and 10 digs for Chapman (2-1). Defensively, sophomore libero Linda Ly earned a season-high 33 digs in the back row for the Panthers, who improved to 2-0 at home this season. Chapman will face nationally-ranked Cal State East Bay on Friday at the Cal Lutheran Tournament in Thousand Oaks, followed by a doubleheader against regionally-ranked Redlands and Cal Lutheran on Saturday.
