ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women’s volleyball team celebrated it’s home opener by defeating visiting Whittier College in three games 30-16, 30-17, 30-22 at the Hutton Sports Center on Tuesday night. The Panthers got some big offensive performances in their first victory of the season. Junior MB Jill Felger led all players with 15 kills and committed just one hitting error to pace Chapman (1-1). Sophomore OH Lindsey Cargile was almost as good, totaling 14 kills and just two errors. They had help from freshman setter Kathleeen Kowalski who recorded 42 assists in the win. Whittier (0-5) was led by Shanell McMillen, who finished with 12 kills and Jennifer Salas, who earned a match-high 18 digs. Chapman will not have much time to relish the win as it will get right back to work on Wednesday night when it hosts Occidental College at 7 p.m. Game stats available online: |
