FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ORANGE, Calif. – Two Chapman University softball players, senior RHP Maggie Wilder and sophomore OF Erin Dudzinski have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America team. The two led the Panthers to a 29-13 overall record and fifth consecutive NCAA playoff appearance. Wilder, the staff ace in 2007, was at her career best as a senior when she posted a 15-4 record with a 1.32 ERA and 139 strikeouts. The right-hander defeated seven top-25 teams, including the recently crowned national champion Linfield College. Wilder was named to the All-America second team after earning third team honors as a sophomore in 2005. The Panthers’ leadoff hitter in all 42 games, Dudzinski was named to the third team for the first time in her career. The sophomore led Chapman in batting (.401), doubles (14) and stolen bases (15) and was named the team’s Offensive Player of the Year. She also drove in 26 runs from the leadoff spot and one of her two home runs this season was a walk-off dinger against Linfield in March. They join an elite club of 13 Chapman softball players who have earned NCAA Division III All-America honors. Wilder becomes the seventh Panther to be named multiple times. |
