PANTHERS PLACE THREE ON ALL-WEST REGION TEAM

ORANGE, Calif. –  Three members of the Chapman University softball team have been named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-West Region team. Junior OF Erin Dudzinski and seniors Jennifer Winford and Amanda Campbell were honored for helping lead the Panthers to their sixth consecutive NCAA playoff berth.

This season Dudzinski led the Panthers in nine different offensive categories, including doubles (12), home runs (5), RBI (27) and stolen bases (16). She batted .409 and didn’t commit an error in 32 chances in centerfield, as well. The junior leadoff hitter was named to the West Region first team for the second straight year.

The ace of the Chapman pitching staff, Winford set career-highs in wins (15-6), complete games (17) and shutouts (8). The right-hander finished with 91 strikeouts and opponents batted just .208 against her. She was named to the second team and has been an All-Region selection three times in her career.

Campbell was named to the second team as a utility player, splitting her playing time this season between catcher and designated player. The senior led Chapman in batting (.431) and slugging (.651), had four home runs and 25 RBI. It’s the second such honor for the senior.

Chapman posted a 27-11 overall record and reached the first round of the NCAA playoffs in 2008.
