THREE CHAPMAN SOFTBALLERS NAMED TO ALL-WEST REGION SQUAD

ORANGE, Calif. – Three Chapman University softball players were named to the NFCA All-West Region team, led by sophomore right-hander Jennifer Winford. The Panthers, who qualified for the regional playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, also had senior utility player Kim Sanders and senior outfielder Kailee Roeser named to the second and third teams, respectively.

Winford was named to the first team for the second year in a row. The sophomore posted a 12-5 record and 1.46 earned run average in 16 starts. She led the team in shutouts (six) and strikeouts (65) in over 110 innings and held opponents to a team-best .210 batting average.

Sanders earned All-Region honors for the second time in her career after leading the team in 10 offensive categories, including batting (.375), doubles (16), home runs (9) and RBI (29). She is ranked 23rd in Division III in doubles per game and was named to the second team as a utility player after splitting her playing time between catcher and third base.

For Roeser, who was named to the third team, it was her third such honor. The senior left fielder started all four years for Chapman and finished second on the team with a .346 average this season. She led the team in runs scored, hit seven doubles and stole six bases, while committing just one error on defense.

Of the three, Winford advanced for All-America consideration, which will be announced later this week.
