PANTHERS LAND SIX PLAYERS ON ALL-WEST REGION TEAM

ORANGE, Calif. –  The NCAA playoff-bound Chapman University women’s softball team had six players named to the Louisville Slugger All-West Region as voted on by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and released Monday. Senior RHP Maggie Wilder and sophomore OF Erin Dudzinski were both named to the first team and are eligible for All-America balloting.

Wilder, a three-time All-Region selection and 2005 All-American, posted some of the best numbers of her career as a senior. The right-hander earned career highs in victories (14-4) and strikeouts (126) and defeated seven top-25 teams this season. She posted a 1.27 ERA with five shutouts and a .216 opponent batting average, as well.

The sophomore Dudzinski had a breakout season, earning the award for the first time in her career. She led Chapman with a .414 batting average, 13 doubles, 32 runs scored and 15 stolen bases from the leadoff spot. The outfielder ranked second on the team with 24 RBI.

In addition, four other Panthers were named to the All-West Region third team. Senior OF Sandra Burns was honored for the first time in her career, batting .333 with nine doubles and tied for second on the team with 24 RBI. Juniors Amanda Campbell (.342, 7 2B, 23 RBI) and Catherine Hall (.355, 7 HR, 41 RBI) were first time winners, as well as freshman IF Melanie Villarroel (.380, 3 HR, .988 fielding pct.).

The six Chapman players join an exclusive list of 69 Panther softball players that have earned All-Region honors under head coach Janet Lloyd since 1995.
