FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PANTHERS WILL CELEBRATE ‘SENIOR DAY’ IN REDLANDS

ORANGE, Calif. –  An opponent cancellation this week means that the Chapman University softball team will have to move its pre-planned ‘Senior Day’ to the University of Redlands, the site of the Panthers’ final regular season doubleheader on Saturday at noon.

Chapman had originally planned to take on La Sierra University at Hart Park on Sunday, but an administrative decision led to the cancellation of the doubleheader; what would have been the Panthers’ final home games of the year and traditionally a time when graduating seniors are honored prior to the first pitch.

Nonetheless, Redlands has agreed to honor Chapman’s three seniors – Amanda Campbell, Catherine Hall and Jennifer Winford – in addition to the Bulldogs’ own 'Senior Day' ceremonies on Saturday.

The doubleheader, besides all the ‘pomp and circumstance’ surrounding the seniors, is shaping up to be a marquee event with West Region standings and postseason implications on the line. Chapman (26-8) currently climbed to No. 10 in the NFCA top-25 Division III poll, while Redlands (28-7) is No. 12 in the nation. However, in the most recent NCAA regional rankings, Redlands is No. 4 ahead of Chapman at No. 6.
