ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men’s tennis team may be breaking for Easter a bit too soon. The Panthers are on a roll with back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Chapman has also won three of its past four matches to improve to 4-6 overall this season. Chapman first defeated visiting Central College (Iowa) 8-1 on Wednesday in a victory that included a 6-0 sweep in singles play. No. 1 singles seed Clifford Yook won his eighth straight match 6-0, 6-0 to lead the Panthers. All six Chapman players won in straight sets. Yook and partner Leland Buttle also earned a victory in the No. 1 doubles match 8-6. On Thursday, the Panthers beat visiting Roger Williams (R.I.) by the same 8-1 score. This time Chapman swept the doubles matches, let by Yook and Buttle’s 8-3 win. Yook extended his singles winning streak to nine in a row with a straight sets win 6-3, 6-0. The junior is 13-2 overall this season. Another junior, Scott Fong, won his fifth consecutive singles match 6-1, 6-0 as the Panthers’ No. 6 seed.
