ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Chapman University men’s tennis team was by defeated Mary Washington University (Va.) 4-3 on Sunday morning at the Anaheim Tennis Club. The Panthers split the singles matches with three wins coming from Robert Chu, Morgan Surfas, and Ian Flores, but they were unable to overcome the strong opposing squad in doubles, where Mary Washington earned the deciding team point. Senior Chu is now 9-3 overall this season in singles play as he defeated Jon Clair in the No. 2 seed match. Doubles partners Surfas and Clifford Yook, beat Chris Armes and Jon Pollak of Mary Washington 8-3, improving to 5-1 as a pair. Chapman (4-4) will return for another home game next Saturday, March 11, where they will host UT-Tyler (TX) at Orange High. DOUBLES SINGLES
