ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men’s basketball team snapped a two-game skid with a 69-50 victory over visiting Pacific Union College at Hutton Center on Wednesday afternoon. The win gave Panthers’ coach Mike Bokosky his 259th career head coaching victory surpassing Ralph Welch for the school’s all-time wins mark. It took Bokosky, 52, 15-plus seasons to reach the record. In that time he has amassed 14 consecutive winning seasons, including three years with 20 or more wins. Bokosky’s all-time record now stands at 259-131. Basketball is Chapman’s oldest program, beginning in 1920. Welch, who coached the Panthers from 1925-42, had held the school’s wins record for 65 years with a mark of 258-87 overall. Welch’s 18 years came to an end when the basketball program was suspended from 1942-45 due of World War II. Chapman (8-4) evened its record at 1-1 in the brief Tiger/Panther Tournament this week. Thirteen different Panthers scored at least one point, led by sophomore C Jared Kaiser who finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Sophomore G Kyle Wood also had 10 points. Chapman improved to 4-1 at home this season Brandon Monty led all scorers with 18 points for Pacific Union, which dropped to 0-11 this season. --------------------------- Occidental 69, Plattsburgh State 64
