ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University men’s basketball players Miguel Bennett and Kyle Wood received nods for All-Independent team honors, as named by the Association of Division III Independents. Senior F Miguel Bennett was named second team All-Independent after shooting 49.2 from the field, averaging 9.8 points, and contributing 36 assists and 13 blocked shots for the Panthers. This was the second consecutive year Bennett has been named All-Independent. Last year he was third team. Starting sophomore G Kyle Wood earned third team All-Independent honors. Wood led Chapman in scoring (10.8 points per game) and steals (32). He also finished the season with 82.5 free-throw percentage and 64 assists for the Panthers, who won their third straight West Region Independents title. The Association of Division III Independents consists of 21 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2007-08. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
