FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE VANGUARD HALTS CHAPMAN WINNING STREAK AT TEN ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men’s basketball team had its 10-game winning streak snapped with a 73-68 loss to visiting Vanguard University at Hutton Center on Thursday night. Vanguard handed the Panthers their second home loss of the season, leaving Chapman with a regular season home record of 10-2. Vanguard (18-7) jumped out to an early 10-2 lead over Chapman in the first four minutes. The Lions led for most of the first half and took a 36-29 advantage into halftime. A roller-coaster second half included six lead changes between the teams with Vanguard taking its final lead with two minutes remaining. Panthers’ G Griffin Ramme’s three-pointer with 18 seconds left got Chapman (18-7) within a point, 69-68, but that was as close as they’d come. Vanguard sophomore Greg Scott and senior Greg Gusiff scored 16 and 15 points, respectively. Ramme led the Panthers with 16 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Sophomore G Kyle Wood scored 11 points and senior G Miguel Bennett earned a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) on Chapman’s ‘Senior Night’.
