ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men’s basketball team seems to have found its comfort zone on offense. The Panthers scored a season-high 89 points, including 18 three-pointers, to defeat visiting La Sierra University 89-56 at Hutton Center on Saturday night as part of the Division III Independents Round-Robin Tournament. The win was Chapman’s season-best fourth in a row. Chapman (12-6) averaged just 59.1 points per game through the team’s first 14 games and was 8-6. However, during the Panthers’ current four-game winning streak they are averaging 77 points, including Saturday night’s outburst which featured a 58.1 percentage (18-for-31) from three-point range. It’s the most threes Chapman has made in a game since 2003. Leading the way for Chapman was a pair of freshmen: Max Piner and Griffin Ramme, who combined for nine three-pointers and 31 points. Ramme led the Panthers with 16 points while Piner finished with 15, both career-highs. Sophomore G Kyle Wood pitched in 13 points and three assists for Chapman. For La Sierra (4-12), Ryan White and Roshawn Knight scored 17 points apiece. --------------------------- Dallas (TX) 54, U.C. Santa Cruz 51
