ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University’s men’s basketball team snapped its six-game losing streak on Friday night posting its first win since Dec. 6. The Panthers defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College 59-52 at Hutton Sports Center improving to 5-2 at home this season. Chapman (9-6) opened up what had been a one-point halftime lead with a 10-3 run early in the second half. Josh Flynn-Brown hit a pair of three-pointers that vaulted the Panthers to a nine-point lead, which they did not relinquish. Flynn-Brown led all scorers with 19 points, including making 5 of 6 at the free throw line. Senior guard Greg Perrine added ten points and five rebounds to the Panther cause. Claremont (6-5) was led offensively by Miles Taylor and John Parsons, who scored 11 points each. Taylor added a game-high eight rebounds and Parsons added a game-high five assists. The 52 points allowed by the Chapman defense is the second-lowest total for an opponent this season. The Panthers began the season with eight straight wins for the first time in 65 years, only to lose their next six games. Chapman will hit the road for its next five games and returns for five home games in a row on Jan. 27 vs. U.C. Santa Cruz.
