CHAPMAN CREW ON THE MAP AFTER WOMEN, MEN MEDAL AT CHAMPIONSHIPS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Chapman University’s women’s crew novice 8 team placed third at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) championships last weekend, finishing with a time of 7:32.7 in the finals. It was the first time in the history of the Chapman crew program a boat has medaled in the championships. The Panthers captured three medals in all (two for women, one for men), including the bronze in the women’s novice lightweight four finals, as well.

The Panthers women’s novice eight boat finished just three seconds behind second place U.C. Santa Barbara in the finals, beating Sonoma State, U.C. San Diego and Puget Sound. Sacramento State claimed first in the race.

Chapman’s men’s novice four also medaled for the first time in history of the club program at Chapman. The Panthers finished third with a time of 6:57.2, ahead of Washington State, Oregon and local rival Orange Coast.
