FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CHAPMAN RIGHT-HANDER DRAFTED IN 37TH ROUND ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University pitcher Devin Drag was drafted in the 37th round by the Washington Nationals in Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft on Friday. The two-time All-America selection was the 1,113th overall pick and becomes the seventh Panther drafted since 1999. Drag, a fifth-year senior, led all of Division III in victories with a 16-0 record in 2007. He earned several Pitcher of the Year honors in leading Chapman to its third straight West Region championship, including NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Year from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He was also DIII Independents Pitcher of the Year and ABCA West Region Pitcher of the Year. Drag tied Chapman’s all-time single-season wins record (with former Olympian and MLB pitcher Don August '84)and set a new school record for career victories (30-2). He also had two saves, a 2.41 ERA and ranked seventh in the nation with 101 strikeouts this season.
