ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University baseball team sealed a three-game weekend sweep of the visiting Cal State East Bay with Sunday afternoon’s 11-2 win at Hart Park. The Panthers extended two red-hot streaks with their 15th straight win this season and 14th consecutive victory at home. Chapman (23-2) grabbed only two more hits than East Bay, but scored at least one run in six different innings, including a three-run home run by sophomore OF Ryan Prechtl in the second inning, the first of his career. The Panthers’ leadoff man went 2-for-4 with a game-high four RBI. The Panthers wore down four different East Bay pitchers, as seven different players drove in a run for Chapman. The offense was highlighted by senior IF Kyle Redding, who drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the seventh inning. Outfielders Mike Vass and Ryan Hall each went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, as well. Freshman RHP Jordan Sigman earned his lucky seventh win of the season, holding the East Bay (17-11) offense to one run and eight hits in seven innings.
