ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men’s baseball team ended its eight-game stretch versus East Coast schools on Saturday afternoon by defeating Wesleyan University (Conn.) 3-0 at Hart Park. The Panthers received another impressive pitching performance, this time from senior Devin Drag who struck out 10 batters in his first complete game shutout – a three-hitter – of the season. The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the second inning, on an RBI single by Tyler Norman and a run scoring double from Kurt Yacko. Norman and Yacko combined to go 4-for-7 with a pair of runs scored. Chapman (17-6) tacked on another run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by senior outfielder Brian Brubaker. Drag continues to impress this season, averaging nearly a strikeout and a half per inning and he still has a 0.00 ERA in 33.1 innings. The Panthers’ do-it-all right-hander has five saves this year and on Saturday improved to 4-0. In his two starts this year he has allowed just six hits and no runs in 15 innings and is 2-0. The shutout is the fifth by the Chapman pitching staff this season.
