ORANGE, Calif. - After suffering back-to-back losses last week, the Chapman University baseball team got the job done on Tuesday as it defeated visiting UMass-Dartmouth 11-0 at Hart Park. The Panthers opened the game with five runs in the first inning alone, followed by another six runs in the fourth inning. Chapman quickly set the tone of the game in the first inning, starting with senior catcher John Alexander’s RBI single. In fact, the Panthers scored all five runs in the first without a hit leaving the infield, thanks to three run-scoring infield singles. Sophomore Kyle Redding drove in two runs with base hit to second base. Alexander finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBI. Redding was 2-for-4, while sophomore outfielder Steve Fraser also drove in two. With four pitchers combined to shutout the Corsairs on just two hits, Chapman's fourth shutout of the season. Senior left-hander Billy Sulentor allowed one hit and struck out five batters in five innings to improve to 3-1. ### Game stats available online: |
