CHAPMAN BATS TOO MUCH FOR OXY

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University baseball team slugged its way to a 13-4 win over visiting Occidental College on Saturday afternoon at Hart Park. The Panthers pounded 15 hits, including five extra-base hits, and had at least one hit from every starter to improve to 7-1 at home this season

The No. 1 ranked Panthers (12-2) started their offensive outburst in the second inning with junior IF Patrick Ohail’s solo home run to left-center. His fourth HR of the year tied a career-high. They went on to score five times in the inning, as well as six runs in the sixth to cushion the lead. Five Chapman players had two hits, including Ohail, junior C Matt Pearson and senior IF Kyle Redding who all drove in a pair of runs.

Freshman RHP Jordan Sigman pitched well enough to earn his fourth win of the season, allowing three earned runs and striking out four.
