FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PANTHERS STEAL TOP SPOT IN NATIONAL POLL ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University baseball team earned the No. 1 spot on D3baseball.com and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s first national poll of the season. The Panthers (8-1) earned eight first place votes from 25 college baseball writers, sports information directors and media throughout the nation. The team jumped from a No. 2 spot and two first place votes in the preseason, cooling the preseason leader and now No.2 Cortland State (NY). Chapman will host Game 2 of its three-game series against No. 19 Redlands this Saturday, March 1. Both teams are currently 8-1. First pitch is scheduled at 1 p.m. at Hart Park. The D3baseball.com poll is a weekly ranking of NCAA Division III baseball teams throughout the country.
