FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Chapman (4-0) snapped a 12-12 tie with two outs in the seventh inning on a McMurry error off the bat of junior IF Patrick Ohail. The Panthers capitalized on eight McMurry errors in the game scoring 10 unearned runs. The Chapman offense came out with a bang in the second inning by scoring six unearned runs, highlighted by a two-run single by senior IF Kyle Redding and a two-run HR by senior OF Mike Vass, his second HR of the season. Ohail and junior IF/RHP Kurt Yacko also had home runs in the game. The three have combined for seven homers in their first four games. Chapman scored in every inning except the first and is averaging 12.3 runs per game this season. The team has scored in the double digit range in three of its first four games. The Panthers were leading 9-4 in the fifth inning when McMurry (0-1) charged back with eight runs – only two of which were earned – including a grand slam by C Thomas Beckham, who was 3-for-6. Yacko (1-0) picked up his first win of the season after getting the final nine outs of the game, allowing just one baserunner. The right-hander struck out five and was 3-for-5 with three RBI at the plate. The Panthers will wrap up its three-game series against McMurry with a doubleheader on Saturday. The first game is scheduled at noon at Hart Park.
