Prior to Saturday's West Region championship game, Billy had been called on to start just one game this season. Sure, he had made more appearances (18) than any pitcher on the Chapman staff, but he averaged less than two innings per appearance. No problem. The junior left-hander held a hot-hitting Texas Lutheran team to just five hits while throwing a complete-game shutout and helping the Panthers to their fifth regional championship and a return trip to the Division III World Series this weekend in Appleton, Wis. Sulentor's 8-0 shutout extended Chapman's scoreless inning streak to 17 1/3 heading into the championships. |
