An abundance of youth on Chapman’s women’s basketball team has forced young players to become on-court leaders. Nakamura has seized the opportunity. The sophomore guard leads the team in scoring averaging 11.8 points per game. She has scored 10 or more points in a game five times this season, including 20 points versus Cal Lutheran last Tuesday. The Panthers 86-72 win over the Regals was the second time she scored 20 or more points in a game this year. Averaging 3.4 rebounds per game, Nakamura also leads the team with 17 three-pointers and is shooting 43.6 percent from three-point range. Chapman has won seven in a row and is now 7-2 overall.
