Athlete of the WeekFebruary 16, 2006
This was a no-brainer. Dean accomplished a feat as rare as anything, hitting for the cycle in back-to-back games; something that has never been done by any professional baseball player and which no record exists on the NCAA collegiate books. In Friday's 7-2 win over Pomona-Pitzer, Dean accomplished the feat in just four at-bats to complete the first cycle in six years for Chapman. On Saturday the Panthers traveled to Pomona where Dean hit a home run in the 8th to complete his second cycle in the 17-4 victory over the Sagehens. The junior centerfielder ranks second on the team in batting (.556) and leads the team with 10 runs. |
