BACHELOR OF ARTS IN ART
The BA in Art is designed for students seeking a broad exposure to the arts as an integral part of their liberal arts degree. The program allows them to experiment and develop their own voice and approach, while also allowing a wide range of possibilities for double majors and for minors in other disciplines.
At the foundation level students take three required courses: Visual Literacy, Art and Society, and Foundation Design. The remainder of the degree has enough flexibility to allow students either to experience a wide range of media and disciplines or to concentrate their study on one. BA students work with a faculty committee for one semester to develop a body of work and a personal statement for a group exhibition that will be part of the BA Seminar, their capstone experience. Students who plan to continue on to graduate school in studio art should consider the BFA in studio art. Those wishing to work as professional designers are encouraged to pursue the BFA in graphic design.
Faculty The art faculty are working professionals as well as experienced professors. Students meet one-on-one with their professors for advising and mentoring and for committee meetings.
