Mike Brown, a Business Entrepreneurship and Honors Program alumnus of Chapman University (class of 2006) has been named the Global Student Entrepreneur of 2006 in an award ceremony held at the Annual Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization Conference in Chicago. He finished first among all finalists competing at the international conference. Brown won $10,000 in cash and another $30,000 in Web, printing, public relations and consulting services donated by Entrepreneurs’ Organization members, a mentor from the Entrepreneurs’ Organization and free tuition to the group’s annual Accelerator program.
Mike Brown is the CEO of www.modbargains.com, a web-site he co-created as a student at Chapman University that focuses upon supplying automobile modification parts for BMWs. He grew the business to over a million dollars in revenue while carrying full-time studies.
P. K. Shukla, Director of the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics at Chapman University is very proud of Mike Brown’s tremendous achievement. "Mike deserves this award for both the efforts he put into his studies and for his efforts at growing his business simultaneously. He competed against the top student entrepreneurs in the world--- many of the other finalists were from larger universities with more established entrepreneurship programs. Given the high number of competitive nominations received and reviewed from around the world, Mike’s accomplishment brings credit to the quality of the programs at the Argyros School of Business and Economics and his victory highlights the caliber of students at Chapman University."
