Dennis Veltz, Class of 1968, came to Chapman University after being offered a three year athletic scholarship from
Paul Deese, the Head Coach of Chapman University’s Baseball Team.  While earning his BA in History, Veltz played right field and maintain a .300+ average.  Dennis was a
member of the 1968 Chapman College NCAA Division II National Champion Baseball Team.  He was also named to All-Regional and All-National Teams, and received Honorable Mention All-American.


In his senior year, Dennis signed a professional baseball contract with the San Diego Padres expansion franchise in the National League.  After his release from the AA Florida State League, he joined the Army National Guard, and upon his discharge, returned to Orange County and began working for 3M Company, Motorola Communications, and General Foods from 1970 to 1979.  He began his career as a mortgage broker and realtor in 1979, which he is still involved with today.


In 1983, Dennis participated in the Dodgers Fantasy Camp, an experience that would lead to his involvement with the Men’s Senior Baseball League, beginning in 1984.  In this capacity, Dennis has traveled all over the world as an Ambassador of Baseball, devoting his time to fostering a love for and appreciation of his favorite sport.  Currently, Dennis Veltz works as a Mortgage Broker with Keystone Mortgage Group in Mission Viejo, California, where he serves as Manager of Wholesale Loan Operations.  He is currently divorced, and enjoys the company of his 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  Dennis has the distinction of being the oldest Alumnus, 54, to play in the 2004 Alumni Baseball Game against the Chapman Varsity Team.  The Alumni Team won 0-2, with a HBP (Hit by Pitch) and a long flyball to the left.  Dennis is committed to giving back to his Alma Mater his time and energy as needed.
