Dr. Ronald Steiner, former Associate Professor of Political Science
and Chapman’s Pre-Law Advisor, has taught at Chapman University
from 1993 to 1998 and from 2002 to the present, teaching courses
in Constitutional Law, Native American Law, and the Legal Process. Today, Dr. Steiner is the Director of the Law School's Graduate, Summer & Joint Degree Programs. He teaches Legislation, American Legal History, and an Advanced Tort Seminar on Private Law as Public Policy. In addition to teaching, he has served as a law clerk to the Hon. Ferdinand F. Fernandez of the United States
Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and practiced as a litigator with the Los Angeles offices of Sidley Austin, a major international law firm.

Dr. Steiner earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, where he was named a Hubert H. Humphrey Scholar, and his J.D. from the University of Southern California, where he graduated Order of the Coif.  For many years, Dr. Steiner coordinated Chapman University’s Washington DC Internship Program. He continues to establish strong relationships with students and works to maintain those connections after graduation. In early 2006, Dr. Steiner gave a presentation to the Board of Trustees highlighting students who have gone on to promising professional careers within the government, including fellow Board of Directors member Robert Diaz ’95. He also received the Alumni Association’s Faculty Member of the Year award of 2007 due to his long history of dedication to his students, colleagues, and the Chapman community. Additionally, he is the winner of a number of other teaching awards, including two Awards for Outstanding Teaching in Political Science by the American Political Science Association for 2005 and 2007. Throughout his career, Dr. Steiner has worked unceasingly to remain a continual advocate for both students and alumni, and he wishes to bring this experience to enrich the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
